Sir Tom Hunter is calling on Scottish secondary school pupils to compete to win a table at Scotland’s most amazing dinner in May this year. The Hunter Foundation is donating one table of ten to a secondary school group.

Sir Tom challenged pupils, saying, “If you ruled the world…Oh okay then, Scotland… what would you change? All you have to do is write an essay that summarises what your school would do if you ran Scotland. What would you change, why would you change it and how?”

Skills Development Scotland’s Director of Operations Danny Logue said: “SDS careers advisers across Scotland work with pupils to support them to make the most of their strengths, potential and future career ambitions.

“This is a great opportunity for schools and for young people to show their creativity and innovation.”
Full details of the competition are provided below:

Your chance to attend Scotland’s most amazing dinner

Think you could run the country? Tell us how you’d do it and your school could win a table at a dinner with Barack Obama.

The 44th President of the United States will address philanthropy and business leaders at a dinner in Edinburgh on 26th May 2017 at the EICC.

And this is your school’s chance to be there at the event. The Hunter Foundation in partnership with Skills Development Scotland and Founders4Schools is offering one table of ten for a secondary school to attend the dinner.

If I ruled the world…Oh okay then, Scotland…

All you have to do is write an essay that summarises what your school would do if you ran Scotland. What would you change, why would you change it and how?

The essay must be a maximum of two pages. Be as creative as you like and also tell us how you’ll select the ten attendees on your table should you win.

How to enter

The closing date for entries is Monday 15 May. To enter, you must get permission from your school. They will be responsible for getting you to and from the event if you win so you’ll need to keep them informed.

Your teacher will need to send your essay to schools@thehunterfoundation.co.uk and give the name of the school, an email address and phone number to get in touch.

When you enter you’re also giving us permission to publish your work if we choose to.
